Let us  share with you a little background of how Knife & Sole Ltd evolved. We are husband and wife who have both been in hospitality for the past 20 years. Michael was born in England and have spent majority of his childhood in the Bahamas. He went to boarding school in Canada and started his cooking journey back in England just at the age of 16, as a kitchen apprentice. He then spent a few years in Weymouth, Dorset and then moved to Cumbria to the Lodore Falls Hotel in the Borrowdale Valley. Gabi is originally from Hungary and studied Hotel Management and Tourism in Budapest. Through her internship at the Bay Horse Hotel & Restaurant in Ulverston she fell in love with Cumbria. After finishing her Economist degree in Budapest she applied for a job at the Lodore Falls Hotel too.  Two years after meeting we got married and welcomed our daughter. Our family later became complete with our son. Throughout our Cumbrian years we had the privilege to work in places like the Boathouse Bar & Restaurant at the Bowness Marina Village, The Fisherman's Arms in Baycliff and the Blacksmiths Arms in Broughton-in-Furness, just to mention a few. Our main goal throughout these years was always to start our business. Michael worked hard to widen his experience and perfect his technique in classical French and English cuisine,  while Gabi gained experience in marketing and customer services. After the pandemic hit, Michael started to work as a relief chef and realised how much pleasure he had being in different kitchens. He built up contacts with local businesses and suppliers to be able to use fresh, seasonal produce every time. We are very proud that through hard work we are able to share our with the public in the form of Knife & Sole Ltd since April 2023, concentrating on freelance chefing and outside catering. Then we started to do kitchen takeovers in local pubs and restaurants , creating our own menus and delivering them to the local public, attended agricultural and food festivals and created homemade products. In September 2024 we went a step further and opened our deli, Sangas which enables us todeliver our passion for flavour to even a wider community! We cannot wait to see what the future brings!
